The beginning

I don’t remember when I had my first cup of tea nor do I remember any sort of epiphany that came with it such as “what is this nectar of the Gods!?” but I do remember creating tea parties for my dolls at a very early age and the love affair has continued since then. Strangely, I was brought up in a household of hard-core coffee drinkers so I’m not even sure how I got to where I am today, but tea, oh, tea, where would I be without you?

It’s the drink that starts my day, waking me up, yet it’s also the drink that calms me when I need it. It refreshes, revitalizes, soothes and relaxes. By my conservative estimation, I’ve consumed over 48,000 cups so far.

I, like many others, have been known to travel with tea stashed in my purse or luggage “just in case”, as though it’s an emergency drug that’s necessary for my survival. I have considered that tea administered by drip might not be a bad thing. I have searched for tea thermoses that will keep an absurd amount of tea hot for extended periods, lest I ever be without a tea at the ready.

Quite simply, I’m at teas mercy and can’t imagine a life without it.

So why a blog, you ask?   I suppose I think that there might just be a few more tea lovers out there who might like to read more about all things tea. Why Afternoon Teas specifically?  Well, I have a Diplome de Patisserie from Le Cordon Bleu and am working towards my Tea Sommelier designation, so this gives me the perfect blend of expertise and obsession to keep things interesting.

So, thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do and hope you make time for A Lovely Cup of Tea today.
